PTI Systems was founded as Pro-Tem Incorporated
in 1979. The company initially solved process control problems in the
paper industry, where our strength was the integration of computer systems
and instrumentation (something we still do very well!). In 1981, PTI
began supporting the nuclear utility industry by solving similar interface
problems. We've been serving the nuclear industry ever since, and now
boast the largest staff in the U.S. dedicated to the development and support
of Radiation Protection software.
PTI was the first company to bring client-server systems
to radiation protection programs at electric power utilities. In the 1980's,
we began supporting health physics and radiological functions through
system integration of information systems. In 1982, we installed our first
dosimetry system. Five years later, we provided the industry its first
distributed process, automated access control system. This system - ARACS
- became the most powerful and reliable Access Control system in the country,
is the result of more than 15 years of development, and has been in use
at some plants since 1984. In 1988 we added our first electronic dosimeter
interface. Our systems now interface with many types of instruments from
all major dosimeter manufacturers.
We completed development of a fully integrated health physics
system in 1992, to assist nuclear facilities with 10CFR20 regulations.
ProRad
now operates at sites across the country. We still serve every one of
our ProRad
customers - not one has ever left the system. Our customers benefit from
truly continuous development; every year, ProRad
grows through enhancements and increased functionality.
In the 1990s our quality began to really be recognized.
We became certified Microsoft, IBM and Oracle development partners. In
1998, SAP, the world leader in Enterprise Resource Planning systems, chose
PTI to be its sole provider of nuclear software systems. And MGP Instruments,
the largest manufacturer of dosimeters in the U.S., chose us to be the
sole provider of support and development for its access control software
customers.
In 1999 we went international, adding customers in Canada
and Mexico. PTI now serves Ontario Power Generation in Canada and the
Laguna Verde nuclear plant in Veracruz, Mexico.
In 1998, Trojan Nuclear Plant--already a ProRad customer--chose
PTI to develop the first data management system for conducting large-scale
Final Site Surveys in accordance with MARSSIM guidelines. The resulting
product - Genesis
-went into production at Trojan in 1999 and has since been chosen by Kaiser-Hill
for use at the DOE's Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site, and by
Bechtel ERC for use at the DOE's Hanford site.
In 2001 PTI began proactively designing and developing a
'new-generation' Access Control and Exposure Management system. Sentinel
builds on our years of experience with ARACS and ProRad while adding benefits
from new technologies, new software development tools, and significant
design consultation with industry professionals. Sentinel Access Control
is available now, and the complete Exposure Management system is slated
for release in April, 2002. 2001 was also the year we opened our first
branch office
Today our products maintain health and safety records for
more than 120,000 people each year. Each year, these systems record dosimetry
data for as many as six million accesses to radiological control areas.
Our systems are the result of more than $15 million in research
and development. Customers rely on them for critical operations, and they
come through reliably time and time again.
